& Get to Know Each Other

Hello from the Cascadia Arts Association (CAA)!

As the CAA team begins writing weekly posts for CAA’s blog, the big question is what we want to accomplish? I know I would quickly lose interest—and you might too—if each post didn’t tell a story and have pictures of fabulous artwork or events that inspire me. Our goal is to share with you our experiences as artists, volunteers, businesspeople, local government, and the community in how the arts enrich our community.

We will be posting about upcoming events, featuring local artisans and their artwork, networks that support the arts, and information on how you can get involved. Occasionally, we find something weird and unusual to write about.

Supporting The Arts – Cascadia Arts Association

Since this blog is on CAA’s website, we might as well introduce ourselves. We are 501(c)3 public benefit nonprofit corporation (EIN 84-5028795). It sounds great, but what is it? The IRS defines this type of nonprofit “…As charities that benefit the public at large, public benefit nonprofits public include social services, the arts, health, education, and other activities to improve the quality of life for those in the community. On the our About Page you will see a more complete Mission Statement and activities to achieve our mission.

CAA was incorporated as a local business six years ago. Our Board, volunteers, and supporters include local artists, citizens, and businesses who have been involved for many years in local art events and businesses.

We’ve been around a while and plan to keep growing and developing “The Gateway to the Gorge” as an arts destination. In future posts we’ll talk about area arts, upcoming events, how to get involved, supporters, and of course, Cascadia Arts Association.

For our next post we will be introducing a local area artist, Rick Bradley. Stay tuned to meet an interesting guy and see some fantastic paintings.
